I, however, believe that he might get more looks for a stadium if he can put up a team that takes him to the Superbowl. He might not be willing to put more money toward a team that he may inevitably desire to take elsewhere.

My only concern is Zygi Wilf and his desire for a new stadium. This team is CLOSE to being successful and needs just a few more pieces. Draft picks can be busts (Dimitrius Underwood, Troy Williamson, etc.), but Cutler has already proven himself. Personally, I'd love to see the Vikings give up some draft picks for him rather than give up players. The player wants out, but at what cost? Will the Broncos demand more than necessary to move him? Will they let him sit? Cut him? I know that this is a tricky place to negotiate a deal. Add to the fact that a decent WR might actually want to come to Minnesota with a QB like Cutler and you've got a recipe for success. This could be the piece that puts them at the next level.
#MY BSU PAY EBI UPGRADE#
The guy is only 25, a Pro-Bowler (believe me, neither Rosenfels or Jackson will EVER have that honor), and he wants out of Denver! The Vikings haven't done anything else to upgrade their team this offseason, minus a few very minimal deals. Look, I know that the Minnesota Vikings already added Sage Rosenfels this offseason as a QB to compete with the illustrious Tarvaris Jackson.

Maybe it'd be best to just serve the suspensions so that come playoff time (knock on wood), we'll have the full Williams Wall available. Now, past results do not guarantee future performance, but (with the exception of maybe Green Bay) these were not out-of-the-norm years for these franchises (unless you count Detroit losing all 16 games - but then again they've won 1 playoff game in probably the last 40 years - not making that up). Cleveland, Detroit, San Francisco, and Green Bay - a combined 2008 record of 17-47. The reason I'm torn is that if there were ever a good time for Pat and Kevin to serve their suspensions, the first four games of the Vikings season couldn't be any better. And I do believe that at some point there is a very good chance they will be forced to serve out their suspensions for violating the league's substance abuse policy. I do believe that there is a possibility that both Pat and Kevin Williams were taking these pills to cover something slightly more sinister. In this case, the two Minnesota Vikings will be allowed to play in all games during the 2009 season, barring action from a federal appeals court.
#MY BSU PAY EBI TRIAL#
And while we'd all like to think he'll sacrifice his pay to stay in Minnesota, if we bank on that to be able to keep him, we've got another thing coming.Īs long as the the case against Pat and Kevin Williams stays in Minnesota, a Hennepin County judge has declared that a trial will not take place during the 2009 NFL season. Let's keep the Minnesota native here in Minnesota.

Well, you've got your (publicly funded) stadium and should have no further excuse. So this is a call to the Pohlad family - you've used the Dome as your excuse why you cannot offer contracts to retain key players (Santana, Hunter, etc.). If the Twins cannot sign him, you can bet that there will be many (rich) suitors lined up and ready to offer him a salary large enough to buy a small country.
#MY BSU PAY EBI FREE#
While he made $10.5 mil this season, he becomes a free agent at the end of next season. Unfortunately for Minnesota fans, it may not be here with the Twins. So, now that Mauer has captured the MVP, the Silver Slugger, and the Gold Glove in the same season, what more can he do? One can only speculate that it was a Tigers fan who was fed up with watching the Twins steal yet another division title from them this year. Interestingly, the only first-place vote that Mauer did not receive was a vote that was cast for Miguel Cabrera, who finished 4th in the voting. Hard to argue against a batting title, as well as having the best on-base-percentage and slugging percentage - especially when you consider that he's 26 years old. The Minnesota Twins catcher becomes just the 6th catcher to receive the award - and 2nd in the last 33 years. It was just announced that Joe Mauer has been named the 2009 AL MVP.
